Adult No Gi in Soldotna at AK49
Take away the gi and the game changes. Grips are harder to find. Scrambles get faster. The pace picks up. Our No Gi program teaches the modern grappling game that has come out of the past decade of ADCC-style competition. Wrestling-flavored tie-ups, body control, leg lock systems, and submission chains that flow from one to the next. The people who walk in tend to be ex-wrestlers who want to keep grappling, MMA fans who want the version of jiu jitsu that maps onto a cage, and students from the gi class who want to see what their game looks like without sleeves and lapels to hold.
No Gi is technical, fast, and physical. It rewards the practitioner who wants to spend years getting better at solving the puzzle of a sweaty, slippery, smaller or bigger human being. Classes blend technique work with live rolling. You'll come away with bruises, lessons, and a deeper understanding of how the body folds under pressure. New students are welcome any week. The mat is open. Show up early, ask questions, and we'll get you started.

Why Train No Gi?
No Gi is where competition grappling is headed. It is also the version of jiu jitsu that maps cleanest onto MMA. At AK49 we teach a curriculum that links classical jiu jitsu fundamentals with modern leg attacks, wrestling control positions, and dynamic guard play. Our coaches train and compete in this style and bring fresh material to every session.
No Gi at AK49 Soldotna is built around how grappling is actually played at the top level. Our curriculum pulls from ADCC-style rulesets, leg entanglement systems, and the wrestling-heavy game that defines modern competition. The students who fall in love with No Gi tend to be the people who watched the last ten years of grappling shift and want to train the version that is shaping the sport now. Whether you train mornings before the day starts or evenings after work, you'll find partners who push you. White belts, blue belts, wrestlers crossing over, MMA-focused students. Everyone gets better. The Kenai Peninsula deserves a serious No Gi room. AK49 is building one.
